Illegal Immigration

Immigration. Ok, I know what you think. I’m an elitist, racist asshole. That may be true to a certain extent, but… No, not really. I’m only elitist in specific areas (very few actually) and a racist? No, I would have to disagree with that too.

Here’s my take on illegal immigrants.

So, I looked up what it takes to legally immigrate to Mexico. I chose Mexico for two reasons; first it’s probably the country whose citizens try to illegally enter America most and second, it’s one of the easier nations to legally immigrate to. Here’s the deal. You must live as a legal alien in Mexico for five years and then it’s a matter of a small fee and some perfunctory obligations and wham, bam, you’re naturalized!

Wait a minute. Do you understand what this means? You have to live LEGALLY in Mexico for five years. That means you can’t hop the border and live with a relative who already lives there. You can’t work illegally off the books for some disreputable company. You must enter with the proper paper work in order and show that you’ve been residing in-country for five years. Unless you’re pretty freaking wealthy this means you’ll need to have the Mexican Government issue you a work visa.

Do you see my point? There are steps a person must go through even in Mexico to be granted citizenship.

Now, those steps may be more difficult to achieve in America, but that’s the way we as a society have set them up to assure that we only allow the people that we want to have the rights afforded to Americans. It’s hardly impossible. I personally know MULTIPLE naturalized American citizens.

On the other hand we have illegal immigrants. These are people who have broken the law right off the fucking bat by entering the country without permission. You know what happens to you if you get caught entering a foreign country without legal documents? If you’re LUCKY you’ll get sent back to America. If you get caught working without a valid work visa? Again, let’s just say that hopefully you get caught in a civilized place like the US so that the worst that might happen is you get deported.

I just don’t understand any logic whatsoever that might suggest that one, we should allow anyone into the country without any sort of regulation going on and two, it’s ok for someone who has entered illegally into the country to be allowed to stay with no disciplinary action against him. How does this make sense?

Isn’t it a slap in the face to the millions who have entered legally and become naturalized Americans throughout the years?

Perhaps you don’t appreciate the rights and privileges you have due to where you were born.
I think we should get rid of EVERY person who is in America illegally. Hell, I only wish we could deport some of the idiots who are LEGAL citizens as well!
